Fishing Report - July 2010
With the onset of summer there is no better place to be than right here in the mountains of Western NC.
Even with hot summer days, our average morning temperatures have been in the low 50's.....perfect for high country wilderness trout fishing.
Whether fishing the Smokies, the Mt.Mitchell Refuge, or the headwaters of the North Toe River, the hatches during the month of July are prolific.
Elk Hair Caddis', Yellow Sallies, Yellow Humpies, and Yellow Stimulators are producing well.
Smallmouth bass action the past three weeks has been some of the best that we have seen all year.
With water temperatures in the mid 70's, the topwater smallie action is on. Yellow, black, and white poppers in sizes 4 and 6 are working well.
