Jason Borger Visits River's Edge Outfitters
River’s Edge Outfitters, located on Upper Street in Spruce Pine, invited everyone to stop by the shop this Friday, Nov.14, from 10:00 am till 1:00 pm to meet World Renown Fly Fishing author and professional fly fisherman “Jason Borger”. Jason Borger is a professional fly-fishing educator, author, and artist. He published his first fly-fishing article at age 13, and began working on fly-fishing videos when he was 16. He later worked on the silver-screen movie “A River Runs Through It”, serving as one of the film's fly-casting doubles.
He is the author of several fly fishing books, his most recent being “Jason Borger's Nature of Fly Casting”. He currently serves as the Education Director for the Fly Casting Institute (www.flycastinginstitute.com). Jason is a regular contributor of articles to magazines such as Fly Fish America, Fly Fisherman and Fly Rod & Reel, as well as numerous international publications. In addition to writing, Jason is also an illustrator and painter of fly-fishing subjects. Jason is a member of the Board of Governors for the Federation of Fly Fishers' Fly Casting Instructor Certification Program.

Cecilia "Pudge" Kleinhauf
Friday, October 3, from 2:00 - 4:00 pm at River's Edge Outfitters fly shop fly fishing legend Pudge Kleinhauf. "Pudge" is Alaska's leading woman fly fishing instructor, fly tier and guide. Renowned for her teaching skills in both fly fishing and fly tying, she is also Alaska's best-known woman guide, offering lodge-based fly fishing schools and small-group guided trips for women and couples to a wide variety of Alaska's best known fly fishing locations. She also leads guided trips for saltwater fly fishing to Mexico each spring. A regular presenter at outdoor and fly fishing shows around the country, Pudge is also one of the "Special Explorers" for the Alaska Magazine Television Series.

A retired University professor and lawyer, Pudge is a member and one of the founders of the International Women Fly Fishers. She serves as a Fly Fishing Ambassador for Patagonia, and as a Pro Staff member for Ross Reels, Scientific Angler™, Sierra Stream & Mountain, Jay Fair, and others.
Pudge has written several fly fishing books, including "River Girls: Fly Fishing for Young Women" and "Fly Fishing Women Explore Alaska". She'll be available to sign books; offer advice on casting, tying, and fly fishing; and to share fly fishing stories from Alaska.

Join us Thursday evening, Oct.16 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm for our monthly "Fly of the Month" tying clinic. Each month you'll learn how to tie our "match the hatch" fly of the month. Whether fishing delayed harvest or the South Holston, our tying instructors will teach you all you need to know about tying flies that work on our local waters. Guide Services
Our staff of professional guides specialize in wading for trophy mountain trout and drift boat fishing
for trout and smallmouth bass. Because of current permits that we guide in the Pisgah National Forest under permit TOE 6527-01
We also have access to 5 miles of privately managed trophy waters and limited access trout streams.
As a “Creek Company” pro shop, our guides offer float
trips on the French Broad, the North Toe, the Nolichucky, the South Holston, and the Watauga Rivers.

rivers here in Western NC. Some the most pristine waters in the country provide you the opportunity to
catch rainbows, browns and wild brook trout.

Our instructors are all certified fly fishing instructors and are dedicated to teaching, educating and
sharing the joys of fly fishing.
